Did you realise the scope of careers support available to Law students at Exeter Law School?
At the University you have access to a law specialist career consultant, Tess Read T.Read2@exeter.ac.uk, and you will also have support up to three years after graduation.

Law students can self-book 1:1 career guidance or advice appointments with Tess through My CareerZone. You can discuss any matters to do with career thinking:

  • How to gain work experience
  • Applying for summer jobs or graduate jobs
  • Putting together a strong CV
  • Any career topic you would like to talk about

We release specialist law careers podcasts such as our Law Mini-Series on topics such as how to secure a training contract with no legal background.

Careers Drop-ins for Law students

Mondays in term time 1.30-2.30pm in the Career Zone.
Students are welcome to pop in to chat with Tess and discuss anything to do with employability for any career in law or other employment sectors.

Timetabled employability seminars

Tess runs sessions for legal careers for all first year law students. In addition, Tess runs interactive workshops with Exeter Law firms at which students can work on legal CVs, applications and interviews with law professionals. Tess runs webinars through the year on topics such as routes into law and assessment centres and collaborates with the Law Societies on sessions such as creating great legal cvs.

The Career Zone runs a law careers fair which is held in the Great Hall every autumn showcasing over 50 national and local employers in law. In addition to the Career Zone’s website here Career Zone | Career Zone | University of Exeter which features hundreds of useful resources, there are specialist law pages here Law and Legal Services | Career Zone | University of Exeter.
