18 January 2024This an opportunity for current second years to assist in the organisation of a student-led conference taking place in Exeter in September 2024. The organising committee has asked for Exeter law students to volunteer, but please note this is not a conference which is run by or affiliated with the Law School. Our understanding is that volunteers will need to be available from the end of January.
You have until 17.00 on Monday 29 January to submit your application.
HEYTA is a student conference organised jointly by prestigious UK and Chinese universities and this year will be held in Exeter between 2nd and 6thSeptember.
Joining the organising committee means that, together with other Exeter students, you will:
This list is not exhaustive, and they might be other ways you can support the HEYTA conference. It might also be that you will be involved in some and not all of these activities, depending on how much time you have.
Joining the organising committee is a volunteering role, and although it might take some of your time, it would be great for your CV and valuable experience for future employers. It is also a good opportunity to meet with students from other UK and Chinese universities – and represent the University of Exeter in the world.
If you are interested in volunteering, please can you complete the following MS Form: https://forms.office.com/e/YSZvtQAZFG.
You need to, in no more than 150 words, explain why you want to volunteer and why you are interested in the conference theme of digitisation and sustainability. Look at the HEYTA website to find out more about the conference if you are interested. Note that this it is not a ‘law’ conference but a humanities one.
Applicants should have received at least an overall average mark of 55% during their first year, but please contact David Yuratich directly if you fell under that average mark and are still interested in volunteering. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their supporting statement and if necessary we will also look at engagement data and academic attainment.
Please note that this is a voluntary role. You will need to be in Exeter between 2 and 6 September 2024.
