Law alumni support college students in the Pathways to Law programme

It was great to welcome some of our alumni back to campus to share their advice and experience with students on our Pathways to Law programme.

Students spent the morning gaining skills in client interviewing and writing a strong CV with the opportunity to try them out in the afternoon.

Alumnus Benjamin Thomson, (Associate (Commercial) Ashfords LLP) took the students through a CV workshop, whilst our own Law Clinic Co-Directors, Natasha Bellinger and Kim McDonald helped students to develop their client interviewing skills.

The students gained a lot from the alumni’s input saying

  • I enjoyed speaking to Lawyers, it has really gave an insight into the rewarding elements of law as well as the challenges
  • Great to talk to someone from a law firm and have specific feedback from a professional that does this daily

With thanks to our alumni and local legal professionals for their support on the training day.

  • Jessica Whittick (Tozers LLP, Exeter)
  • Tom Moser (Crown Prosecution Service)
  • Racheal Gould (Stephens Scown LLP), George Demirev, Monica Duque
  • Ellie Wonnacott (Michelmores LLP)

And Karolina Smolicz an alumna of University of Bristol who works at Stephens Scown LLP, Exeter. We were also supported by 2 (second year) law ambassadors throughout the day: Joseph Payne-Chiesa & Divyanshi Gupta.
