14 October 2026Professor Kubo Mačák took part in the inaugural Global Gathering of International Humanitarian Law Professors, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva in August 2026.
He joined Jean-Marie Henckaerts, Elizabeth Salmón Gárate and Sâ Benjamin Traoré for a panel on the updated ICRC Commentaries, which provide guidance on interpreting and applying the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols. These treaties establish legal protections for civilians and others affected by armed conflict. During the session, Professor Mačák shared progress and plans for the updated Commentary on Additional Protocol I, receiving valuable feedback from fellow academics from around the world.
