Exeter Primary PGCE

Tasks

Throughout the academic year the trainees complete a number of tasks. These enable them to link theory, research, policy and practice together using the Exeter Model.

These tasks relate to Educational and Professional studies (EPS) and Curriculum Studies.

As part of their training, the Primary PGCE course requires trainees to teach across the range of curriculum subjects. To ensure that they have sufficient input in phonics, reading, Maths, PE and ML, we have designed specific tasks for them to carry out for these subjects during their school placements. The Educational and Professional Studies tasks enable trainees to relate educational theory, research, policy and practice to their practical school experience in areas such as behaviour management, challenging the gap, teaching pupils with SEND and teaching pupils with EAL.

This booklet contains details of the EPS and the Curriculum studies tasks with information on when trainees need to complete these.
