Exeter RSC 2024
47th Research Students Conference in Probability & Statistics
The Research Students’ Conference (RSC) in Probability and Statistics is an annual conference for post-graduate research students in all areas of probability and statistics. Organised and hosted by PhD students, the conference provides a friendly environment for students to meet others with similar interests.
The 47th edition of the RSC 2024 will take place on the 20 – 23 August 2024 at the University of Exeter, Streatham Campus. The university was founded in 1955 and has over 25,000 students from 130 countries and over 125,000 alumni in 183 countries providing a truly global experience and a diverse, inclusive environment. Exeter is one of the very few universities to be both a member of the Russell Group and have a Gold award from the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). Exeter is 15th in The Guardian University Guide 2022, in the top 150 globally in both the QS World Rankings 2022 and the THE World University Rankings 2022. Streatham Campus is the largest of Exeter’s four campuses and is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country.
The RSC prides itself on allowing all participants the chance to present their work should they wish to, in the form of either a talk or a poster. In order for the event to run effectively, everyone wishing to present their work will be asked to send an abstract to the organising committee a month prior to the conference.
Delegates are encouraged to disseminate their work in the form of an oral presentation. Talks will be 13-15 minutes long with a further 3-5 minutes for questions. If they have not yet obtained any results, students are welcome to present a more general talk on their research area, including what their future work may involve.
Participants will also have the opportunity to present a poster. Attendees will have the chance to meet and chat with the authors, as well as some representatives from the sponsoring companies.
Each presentation session will require a chairperson and more information about this role, and instructions for those presenting, can be found here.
