The COAST Project, led by SPHERE’s Professor Cornelia Guell, has just completed its 3-year investigation into how people living in rural coastal areas get around – with the aim of improving equitable, sustainable transport policies.

The findings have been put into a Zine, or booklet, conveyed as stories which bring together the difference experiences that people shared with the project team. They demonstrate how difficult it can be to get around in rural places, especially when the infrastructures are thin and resources are tight. Click on the image below to view the zine.

A video has also been created as a response to the research by filmmaker Carl Joyce; he worked in Horden to film with three members of the community and share their perspectives on active and sustainable travel.
