Our Digital Summer Showcase 2024

Co-creation with our users is at the heart of the University’s 2030 Digital Strategy – not only are our products and services user-led, but the Strategy was developed based on months of user research and insight. We want to ensure that the Digital team are supporting the goals of the whole University, enabling collaboration with other teams and departments to help the University to deliver Strategy 2030.

Last week we hosted a Digital Summer Showcase on Streatham campus. The purpose of our Showcase was to enable all University colleagues based in and around Exeter to understand what we in the Digital team are doing to deliver the Digital Strategy, and what the Strategy means for them.

We showcased all of the products and services we are currently working on, as well as the ways in which we work. This enabled colleagues to ask questions and feedback on the work we are doing so far, inviting them to collaborate and co-create together with us going forwards to ensure we’re delivering value to our users and the University. We also wanted to bring together different teams and departments from across the University to showcase digital innovation happening from across the institution, not only from the Digital team.

Sharing our products and services

From the Digital Team

Throughout the two day event, we hosted an agenda of talks and workshops to bring the Digital Strategy to life and enable teams to understand what it means for them and how we can work together. Take a look at the agenda below:

We also had a number of stands throughout the Great Hall where colleagues could drop-in during the event and speak to us about any of our products/services/ways of working.

Showcasing innovation from around the University

In addition to showcasing the products and services we are working on in the Digital team, we wanted to also highlight the amazing work happening in the digital innovation space across the University in other teams and departments. There were stands throughout the Great Hall provided by a range of teams, including Learn Exeter, the Student Start Ups Team, Animal Behaviour Observation, and ThinkLabsAI.

Outcomes

We saw over 251 attendees across the two days, exploring the stands and discovering what’s happening in the world of digital innovation at Exeter, with 141 attendees to talks and workshops giving deeper insight to the products and services we’re working on.

We also began recruiting colleagues to take part in user research that explores the development of a staff profile in the MyExeter app – if you’re a current University of Exeter colleague then please sign up to take part in shaping this here. In addition to this, we made valuable connections leading to collaboration opportunities with colleagues and students across the wider University.

If you couldn’t make it to the event, we’ll be holding other events similar to this in the future to enable us to learn from one another and identify areas for collaboration and helping one another achieve our goals. In the mean time, if you’re a University of Exeter colleague, please come along to our fortnightly Digital Demos to learn more and ask us anything.
