Exeter and Gulf Pharmacy Practice Collaboration (ExeG PPC)
Welcome to the Exeter and Gulf Pharmacy Practice Collaboration (ExeG PPC) website. The ExeG PPC was founded in 2022, with the objective to improve the provision of asthma care in the Gulf region via high quality, interdisciplinary research. In discussion with stakeholders in UAE and other Gulf countries, we identified gaps in the current provision of asthma care in this region. In particular, we noted that pharmacists had a limited role in providing care to patients with long term conditions, including those such as asthma. This is important as international research demonstrates that pharmacist-led asthma interventions improve patient outcomes, including medication adherence and inhaler technique. We also noted that there was a paucity of research investigating pharmacists’ role in asthma care in the Gulf region. The purpose of the ExeG PPC collaboration is to address this research gap, with the aim of improving the quality of asthma care in this region, and ultimately further afield.
This research collaboration is funded by a Middle East & North Africa Development Grant from the University of Exeter.
