A core component of The UK Sustainable King Prawn Project explored the wider infrastructure and conditions needed to establish a new UK production sector for king prawns, and to support other seafood produced on land in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems.

• We organised three workshops with a wide range of stakeholders to explore various supporting conditions with a focus on: (1) the need for a UK king prawn hatchery; (2) welfare and ethics considerations for UK king prawn production; and (3) the case for establishing a National Centre for land-based seafood production.
• We also held a discussion group to understand traditional UK farmers perspectives on the potential for income diversification via adoption of land-based seafood farming.
