    Book Talk and Workshop
11 May 2026, University of Exeter
Funded by the Nuclear Waste Services

We were delighted to welcome Professor Penny Harvey from the University of Manchester to speak to us about her work-in-progress monograph on the temporalities of nuclear waste management. Her book explores how nuclear power produces a range of distinctive and incommensurable temporal logics, and how extensive effort is invested in organising (and realigning) these through policy, engineering, and engagement practices. She draws on a wealth of ethnographic evidence, including her experiences as Deputy Chair of the UK’s Committee for Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM).

We were also pleased to be joined by two discussants: Professor Laura Salisbury from the University of Exeter and Dr. Siegfried Evens from Linköping University. Dr. Evens is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the Sussex Policy Research Unit and the Sussex Energy Group.

Thank you to Professor Harvey and our two discussants for such a rich and engaging discussion!
