Trainee/Student Teacher Leadership Roles
In the most recent University of Exeter Initial Teacher Education Inspection Report (Ofsted, 2017) to which Exeter was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, the only point for consideration and action was to ‘…embed systems to spot trainees’ leadership potential earlier in their training’ (p. 3).
In light of this challenge, a range of measures were set in place during the University taught PE course in the Autumn term to identify and support PE student teachers in developing their leadership skills (see ‘Student Teacher Leadership Roles’, attached).
