Trainee/Student Teacher ‘Learning Pods’ Initiative
The impact of this Learning Pod initiative on the student teachers themselves can be summed up by Ofsted (2020). In a recent ‘pilot’ Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) Inspection of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Postgraduate Primary and Secondary Programmes at University of Exeter (25-29 November, 2019), the leading Her Majesty’s Inspector (HMI) praised the PE learning pod initiative stating that ‘… it is an example of best practice and an excellent way of addressing student health and wellbeing needs early on in their training’ (HMI Ofsted Lead Inspector, 2019).
