The excavation site is open to visitors every week day between 10am and 4pm.
** PLEASE NOTE: due to the current heatwave, volunteers are only working during mornings on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June, and the site will otherwise be closed.**
Students and/or volunteers will be on hand to tell you about the latest discoveries, although you may prefer to attend one of our open days when there will be full site tours and displays.
Please note that there is no visitor parking on site (except for open days), due to the limited space in the field. We recommend parking (considerately) in Sampford Peverell and walking to the site along the canal towpath, leaving the canal at Battens Bridge from where you can follow the lane towards the site. Alternatively, you can walk from Halberton village.
Note that there is a road closure during the week 29 June – 3 July, when a short section of the main road through Sampford Peverell village will be closed (by The Globe pub). The public car park should still be accessible, or you can park in Halberton and walk along the canal from there.
