We are seeking qualified and motivated candidates to pursue a PhD in forest degradation and ecosystem services in tropical montane forests.

The research is based in Geography at the University of Exeter under the supervision of Dr Ted Feldpausch, Prof Toby Pennington, and Dr Lina Mercado and in collaboration with co-supervisors from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Dr France Gerard and Dr Robert Dunford. The work is part of the project BioResilience: Biodiversity resilience and ecosystem services in post-conflict socio-ecological systems, funded by NERC/AHRC and the Newton Fund and involve the collection and use of field data on forest composition and dynamics, soils, carbon isotopes, and fire history. Analytical approaches could include advanced statistical analysis, modelling, remote sensing, and laboratory analysis. The work would be linked to palaeoecological and human geography studies under the same project.
