Community Law Clinic

Law students benefit from opportunities to participate in our award-winning Community Law Clinic (CLC), which seeks to fill the gaps left by legal aid cuts and help individuals access justice in a system that often appears overly complex, confusing and expensive.

Under supervision from qualified legal professionals, students provide free legal advice and information in a variety of areas of law to members of the public who are not eligible for legal aid or are otherwise unable to afford private legal advice.

By collaborating with legal professionals, students can gain valuable skills, including research and client interviewing skills, while also providing a quality service. The CLC achieved the Specialist Quality Mark from Recognising Excellence in January 2023.

Students participate in the Community Law Clinic, encompassing the Access to Justice Clinic, the Immigration Clinic and the Family Law Clinic (run in partnership with Citizen Advice Teignbridge) as part of the 3rd Year Access to Justice optional module at Streatham, with further volunteering opportunities available over the summer (at both Streatham & Penryn).
