You may or may not have seen and heard the word ‘Studiosity’ banded around over the course of your academic studies at Exeter, but what actually is it and how can you benefit from it?

It is well known that the transition from A Levels to undergraduate studies can feel quite overwhelming, especially when it comes to writing longer essays and producing a much higher quality of work for your modules. This is where Studiosity comes in! A service provided by the university, accessed via the Exeter online platform ELE (where all your modules and the relevant work for them are listed), with two main functions.

One function (my personal favourite, and frequently used…) is the written feedback service. With this, you can upload segments of work or assignment drafts up to 5500 words for quick but useful feedback on spelling, grammar, structure, choice of language and referencing. It is worth mentioning, they are not subject specific professionals who look through your work so it shouldn’t be relied on for comments on content – though they are aware of what year, course and ‘stage of draft’ you are at so all that is taken into account when reviewing your work. It is an incredibly invaluable resource and all the advice I’ve had has been positive and constructive, enabling me to craft well-structured essays that meet the demands of my examiners. The first time I used it, I got one of the highest marks I’ve received this year!

This personalised feedback is received within 24 hours of submitting the work, and it is available 24/7 every day of the year! Each academic year, you are provided with 10 opportunities to submit work on Studiosity for review.

The other option you have is to connect live with a subject specialist online, again at any time. This can be used to ask follow-up questions from written feedback you received or to chat through other academic questions you may have (there’s even the option to upload diagrams/visuals to help clarify things!) Perfect for those moments where you feel a bit lost or worried about an assignment.

Based on my own experience, Studiosity has been a very beneficial resource and I plan to keep using it over the coming years!
