Lead Mentor Training, Development and Consultation updates

Materials and notes from our Training, Development & Consultation meetings, to which Lead Mentors and University Visiting Tutors are invited.

Course Priorities, 2021-22

Our course priorities are determined by our review and development processes, primarily:

Our key priority this year is improving trainees’ experience of the coherence of the PGCE curriculum. The aim across our programmes is to ensure that all staff working with trainees have a foundational understanding of the curriculum and can support trainees in making links between the university-based and school-based learning.

Other priorities include:

Lead Mentor T, D& C meetings 2021 – 2022

2021 – 2022 Lead Mentor Briefing Document

Lead Mentor T, D and C meetings 2022 – 2023

Welcome Lead Mentors old and new! Many of us have met this year to discuss and develop our curriculum, share ideas about how to support trainees with their development, and share the latest research.

Our course priorities for 2022 – 2023 are:

To encourage more MFL trainees to engage with the Leadership strand of the course.

To develop SEND input to support trainees in this area.

To support trainees to make links between the EPS module and their practice in MFL.

To support Lead Mentors to understand and contribute to the MFL PGCE curriculum.

At our November meeting, we discussed the Ofsted Curriculum Research Review and also the response of the MFL community to the review. See documents below which may be of interest, including research from Exeter on supporting new teachers:
