WORKSHOP
About the Workshop
‘Intersection of Legal Data & AI’ explores how legal data is stored, structured, and governed, and how this directly shapes what AI can (and cannot do) in legal practice. The workshop unpacks the landscape of legal data, from traditional on‑premise systems and document management platforms to modern cloud-based data lakes and warehouses, and explains why data architecture, metadata, and access models are foundational to responsible AI. Students will be given practical context on what accelerated cloud adoption across the legal sector, transforming how firms operate, collaborate, and ultimately become AI‑ready. The session maps the different categories of legal data, examines the role of knowledge management systems in structuring legal intelligence, and introduces modern AI techniques such as retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG). This in-person workshop is open to current students of Exeter Law School.
This event is made possible with the generous support of the Alumni Annual Fund. Please note that spaces are strictly limited to 40 so early registration is advised. If you register and are then unable to attend, you are required to provide 24 hours notice in writing so that your place can be offered to another student. Thank you for your understanding.
